Types of auto dialer
- Preview dialer. The telecaller sees the contact first, then clicks to call.
- Power or progressive dialer. Rings the next number as soon as a telecaller is free.
- Predictive dialer. Rings several numbers per telecaller, betting on how many will answer. When more people pick up than there are free telecallers, someone hears silence and the call drops.
- AI dialer. Every answered call goes straight to an AI voice agent, so nobody waits for a free person.
How it works on Indian calls
An education company uploads a list of enquiries from an admissions fair. The dialer rings each number inside the hours set, skips anyone who has asked not to be called, retries people who didn't pick up and logs an outcome for every call.
India's rules shape all of this. TRAI treats calls placed by software or an automated platform as automated (A2P) calls, which must be declared to the telecom operator. Number series matter too: the 140 series is for promotional calls, and the 1600 or 1601 series for service and transactional calls, depending on the sector. Promotional calls also have to respect the DND register (NCPR).
Why it matters
A classic dialer only speeds up dialling; someone still has to talk. Predictive dialers can also leave people on silent, dropped calls, which annoys them and invites complaints. An AI agent removes the wait for a free telecaller.
How Kallix handles it
Kallix campaigns do the dialling. Upload contacts as a CSV or push them by API, set IST calling windows, retries with gaps and parallel lines, then start. Numbers are checked against the DND register before a campaign dials, do-not-call contacts are excluded, and Kallix declares automated calling for the numbers it provides through Vobiz.
