Tara, AI assistant
Overdue EMI follow-up, in Hinglish. An example call.
- TaraNamaste, main Tara bol rahi hoon, Northwind Finance ki AI assistant. Kya meri baat Sunita Rao ji se ho rahi hai? Verification ke liye apna birth year bata dijiye.
- CallerHaan, main hi hoon. 1991.
- TaraDhanyavaad, Sunita ji. Aapke personal loan ki ₹6,200 ki EMI 5 October ko due thi, aur abhi pending hai. Aap kab tak payment kar payengi?
- CallerIs mahine thoda tight hai. Abhi ₹3,000 de sakti hoon, baaki 20 tareekh tak.
- TaraTheek hai. Maine aaj ₹3,000 aur 20 October tak ₹3,200 note kar liya hai. Call ke baad aapke loan account ka UPI payment link WhatsApp par aa jayega. Hum kabhi OTP ya PIN nahi poochte. Kisi aur option par baat karni ho toh main aapko team se connect kar sakti hoon.
How it works. From trigger to outcome in 4 steps.
- 1
Load your overdue list
Upload a CSV or push accounts by API, with variables such as {{callee_name}}, {{due_amount}}, the due date and days past due.
- 2
Set the campaign rules
Choose calling windows in IST, the gap between retries, a per-person call limit and how many lines run in parallel. Banks and NBFCs call from 1600-series numbers, which Kallix helps you get through Vobiz, issued in your business's name.
- 3
The agent makes the call
It says it's an AI assistant, runs your right-party check, explains the overdue amount and asks when the borrower can pay. Voicemail and IVR detection stop it talking to a machine.

Outcomes reach your systems
Each call ends as promise to pay, dispute, already paid, callback requested or wrong number, with dates and amounts saved as fields. Signed webhooks send them to your loan system, and a UPI link for that account follows on WhatsApp.
What you can track. On every call.
Each call ends with an outcome, a recording and a transcript, logged against the contact and sent on to your CRM.
- Connect rate
- Promises to pay
- Disputes and already-paid claims
- Callbacks requested
- Wrong numbers and do-not-call requests
- Transfers to your team
- Best time to call
Everything this call needs.
- Your script, bucket by bucket
- Build one agent per stage, each with a step-by-step script and if/then branches for the answers borrowers give.
- Right-party check first
- Ask for a name and a detail such as a birth year, or take digits on the keypad, before any amount is mentioned.
- Promise to pay as data
- The promised date and amount are saved as fields on the call, ready for your loan system, your CRM or a CSV export.
- A UPI link for each account
- As the call ends, Kallix sends a payment link unique to that borrower's account, such as a UPI link, through WhatsApp Business. The agent never asks for card numbers, OTPs, PINs or passwords.
- Warm transfer on your rules
- Hand the call to your team when a borrower disputes the amount, mentions hardship or asks for a person, based on keywords, intent or a direct request.
- The borrower's language
- Set a primary and a secondary language. If a borrower moves from English to Hindi mid-call, the agent moves with them.
Where AI debt collection calls help. Six moments once an account is overdue.
Calling before the due date? See payment reminders →. Once an account is overdue, a debt collection AI voice agent can take on these calls:
- The first days past due. A calm call soon after a missed EMI catches a forgotten date or a late salary before the account slips into the next bucket.
- A promise date that passes. Add accounts with a missed promise to the next campaign, and the agent opens with the date the borrower gave last time.
- Part payments. When a borrower can pay only some of the amount now, the agent records each amount and date, within the limits your script sets.
- "I've already paid." The agent doesn't argue. It logs the call as already paid, notes the date and mode of payment the borrower gives, and your team checks it against your records.
- Disputes and hardship. The agent logs a disputed amount as a dispute. Disputes, job losses and medical emergencies go to a person on your team, by warm transfer or a callback at a time the borrower picks.
- Someone else answers. If the right-party check fails, the agent says nothing about the loan, ends the call politely and logs it as a wrong number or a callback.
We suggest using AI for the early buckets and routine follow-ups. Settlements, legal notices and late-stage recovery are better handled by trained people on your team.
Built around RBI rules for collection calls. Controls you set once, on every call.
You decide what a fair collections call looks like, and these controls hold every call to it. Our acceptable use policy → already rules out threats, shaming, false claims, calls to a borrower's family, references or employer, and calling so often it becomes harassment.
- Calling hours. RBI's 2022 circular on recovery agents says lenders and their agents must not call borrowers before 8 am or after 7 pm. Set your campaign's calling window to match, in IST. Kallix dials only inside it.
- A limit per borrower. One per-person limit counts every call to a borrower across all your agents and campaigns, retries included. Set tighter limits for an agent if you want them.
- 1600-series numbers. Banks and NBFCs make their service and transactional calls from 1600-series numbers. Kallix helps you get them through Vobiz, issued in your business's name, and declares the automated calling to the operator for the numbers it provides.
- AI disclosure. Every call opens with the agent saying it's an AI assistant from your company, and the borrower can ask for a person at any time. That's our policy, and it's in line with RBI's FREE-AI recommendation that regulated entities tell customers when they use AI.
- Do-not-call requests. When a borrower asks you to stop calling, the agent agrees, logs it as an outcome, and Kallix leaves that borrower out of every campaign from then on.
- No payment details on the call. Agents never ask for card numbers, OTPs, PINs or passwords. Payment goes through the link on WhatsApp.
- A record of every call. Recording, transcript, disposition and sentiment for each call, so supervisors can review any conversation, not only a sample.
- Versions you sign off. Every change to an agent is saved as a new version with a changelog. Test it, launch it, and roll back if you need to.
- Borrower data in India. Call data is stored and processed in India, and Kallix is DPDP Act compliant. Hide phone numbers and ID numbers from view-only members, choose how long recordings are kept, and pass only the variables a call needs.
This isn't legal advice. Our guide to AI calling compliance in India → covers TRAI, RBI and the DPDP Act in more detail.

Yes, AI can make debt collection calls in India under the same rules as any recovery call. RBI's Fair Practices Code and its 2022 circular on recovery agents cover conduct and calling hours (not before 8 am or after 7 pm), and you stay responsible for calls an AI agent makes for you. Kallix gives you calling windows, per-person call limits, an AI disclosure, 1600-series numbers and a recording of every call.
Banks and NBFCs make service and transactional calls from 1600-series numbers, under a TRAI direction. Kallix helps you get 1600-series numbers through Vobiz, issued in your business's name, and declares the automated calling to the operator for the numbers it provides. Your business keeps its own DLT registration as the sender.
Your script sets the check, for example the borrower's name plus their birth year, or the last four digits of the loan account entered on the keypad. The agent mentions no amount until the check passes. If it fails, the call ends politely and is logged as a wrong number or a callback.
Yes, straight after the call. Kallix doesn't take payments or payment details on the call. When the borrower agrees to pay, Kallix sends a payment link for their account, such as a UPI link, on WhatsApp as the call ends, and they pay through your own payment provider. The agent never asks for card numbers, OTPs, PINs or passwords, and it can say so, so borrowers can trust the call.
The agent doesn't argue or repeat the demand. It logs the call as already paid or as a dispute, and saves what the borrower says, such as the date and mode of payment or the reason for the dispute, as fields on the call. Then it offers a transfer to your team or a callback. Use the webhook to flag the account in your loan system so it's checked before the next call.
Only within the options your team writes into the script, such as splitting an overdue EMI across two dates. Restructuring, settlements and waivers stay with your people: the agent records the request and hands over.
Write a rule for it. When a borrower mentions a job loss, an illness or another hardship, the agent stops asking for payment and offers a warm transfer or a callback with your team. The transcript and fields stay on the call record, so your team doesn't have to ask again.
Yes. The agent honours do-not-call requests on the call and logs them as an outcome you can export or send to your systems, and Kallix leaves that borrower out of every campaign from then on. Kallix also checks every number against TRAI's DND register before a campaign dials. The register mainly governs promotional calls, and service calls are treated differently. Our guide to AI calling compliance in India explains the difference.
